Earrings

These lavendar clip earrings from the 1950s are set in goldtone metal. Three emerald-cut stones alternate with three lavendar chatons (round stones). A rosette of AB stones gives the clips added dimension. Wearable glitz. 1 1/4". $28.

Lovely 18mm round lucite moonglow cabachons in a wonderful shade of pale-to-medium purple. I love these lucite items; they look good enough to eat. Silver-tone screwbacks. $15.

These earrings were sold to me as Sherman, but they are unmarked. The silvertone backing is in fine condition and appears to be rhodium plated. The red and purple combination is highly desirable. Unfortunately, the center stones are slightly clouded (the others have perfect brilliance.) Price reflects. 1 1/8". $32.

Brooches

This graceful 1940's retro brooch has wonderful motion and color. Five pale pink glass "moonstones" are set in a heavy silver-tone setting which looks like a stylized bouquet made out of metal shavings. The moonstone pieces are very desirable. Unfortunately, the silver-tone metal has severe discoloration and pitting (not severe enough to notice it from two feet away, but since I try to list only pristine items, this qualifies as only fair condition, so you're going to get a deal on the price, which would otherwise be about $130.) 2 1/8" x 2 3/8". $42. Back

Lovely bright blue set featuring AB stones and blue navettes on a rhodium backing. The spray design is delicate and graceful, but won't go unnoticed at 2 3/4" x 2 5/8". 1 1/8" earrings. One of the round stones is the tiniest bit cloudy. Priced accordingly. $45

A Victorian revival pin from the 1930s. Pot metal filigree in a dark brass color. The rectangular stones are unfoiled to let the light through, and are a dark shade of muted blue. Four of the tiny accent stones appear to have been replaced. Priced accordingly. 1 1/4" x 2 1/4". $56.

Huge, heavy brooch, Victorian revival, 1930s. Nine large purple-blue faceted and unfoiled stones with an "alexandrite" effect, decorated with ornate pearls and silver flowers. The same pin, in goldtone, is pictured in two separate reference works on collecting rhinestone jewelry. It is pictured on page # 23 of Nancy N. Schiffer's 1993 Rhinestones!: A Collector's Handbook and Price Guide, as an example of the varied use of purple stones, "from Victorian sweetness to streamlined modern" -- presumably this piece represents the Victorian end of that spectrum -- in the $100-150 price range. A goldtone version is also pictured in Maryanne Dolan's 1993 Collecting Rhinestone and Colored Jewelry: 3rd Edition, on page # 260. Dolan describes it as "A large and distinguished brooch. . . Overall dimensions are typical of the 1930s. Value $350-450.". . . Hmm. 3". $145.

Blue and aqua pin, 1950s era. Mold-poured stones glow softly in open-backed settings. Bright gold-tone metal. This piece is not the highest quality, but it is still fun and glitzy. 2 3/8". $30.

Amazing unsigned West German brooch. This is one of the prettiest examples of the West German style that I have ever seen, with its accents of tiny pearls and amethyst stones around an oval, faceted stone of the clearest, most delicate shade of lavender you have ever seen. The lacy filigree is highlighted with leaves and petals of the most gorgeous metallic lilac enamel. Just under 2 inches wide. $120.

This is a beautiful and intricate snowflake pin in the style of Thelma Deutsch. Matte japanned setting. The blue stones are dark navy, not as bright as they appear in the scan. 2 3/8". $60.

Pale green moonstones arranged in a two-tiered pinwheel design. I love these glowy stones. They have a great deal of internal variation, with shades of dusty blue, bright flashes of yellow, bands of opal and green -- like cat's eyes. Gold-tone setting, 2 3/8". The pin is slightly assymetrical, and several of the stones have slightly damaged backings. Here is another view which shows the assymetry better. Still a beautiful piece. $38.

Unsigned green pin with wedge-shaped two-tone stones in olive green and amber, accented by emerald AB (aurora borealis) stones. This is glitzy, and an unusual color combination. Gold-tone setting, 2". Another View. $35.

A glitzy green circle pin. Olive, kelly green, pale green AB, and emerald AB stones are set in gold-tone dogtooth settings. Would be nice for St. Patrick's Day. 1 3/4". Looks like a Weiss or a Kramer. $15.

Juliana-style autumn stones. Dogtooth settings on the open-backed unfoiled red-orange stones that rim the edges. Red AB stones and molded "acorn" stones with frosted "leaves" and shiny "nuts". Two-tone red and sapphire-blue cabachon tear-drops add depth of color. $65.

Dress Clips

Beautiful blue dress clip. A medallion of deep cobalt stones surrounding a central oval. All of the oval stones are double-faceted for extra glimmer. A regal effect. Brass-toned metal. 2 1/3" by 1 2/3". $45.

Dress clip from the 1930s in soft shades of coral and raspberry. The faux coral stones are glass cabachons, surrounded by tiny pave rhinestones in a darkened brass setting. The pave rhinestones are raspberry red. Design has a strong Deco influence. 2 1/4" x 1 3/8". $45.
